Unknown if remains are Elmhurst man reported missing in August 2020
(Oct. 22, 2021) — DuPage Forest Preserve District Police are investigating the discovery of apparent human remains found Friday morning by contractors working at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in Darien.
The remains, which were discovered south of the youth-group campground at Waterfall Glen, cannot be visually identified. The DuPage County Coroner’s office was notified.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Law Enforcement Department will lead the death investigation. The Elmhurst Police Department was notified as they had filed a missing persons report for Jacob Cefolia on Aug. 8, 2020.
Cefolia’s vehicle was found parked outside Waterfall Glen in August 2020 but he was never found despite an extensive search that included multiple police agencies, volunteers and trained bloodhounds.
