The District is looking for ideas on recreational amenities, trails, natural resource restoration, facilities, and infrastructure at the preserves.
The District’s comprehensive 2019 master plan calls for updating site-specific plans for each forest preserve. The updated plans will provide a roadmap for the preserves’ future development, with suggested timeframes for projects that will help the District determine how to budget for capital projects and determine how those projects will affect overall operations.
Gathering public input is the first phase in updating the three preserves’ master plans. The second phase, which will start in the fall, will analyze feedback, develop recommendations, and implement plans and cost estimates.
Once complete, the master plans will be important tools to guide the preserves’ development and serve as templates for master planning efforts at other DuPage forest preserves.
